ONE-TO-ONE COACHING
I offer 50- and 75-minute 1:1 coaching sessions (in person and virtual), as well as a variety of half day arts-based sessions and nature-based journeys. All materials and equipment are provided.
I also offer free 20-minute consultations to answer any questions you may have and to help you decide if one-on-one mindfulness coaching is the best path for you.

One-to-one sessions belong to you. While not all students are the same, many find the most benefit with a total of 8 bi-weekly sessions, lasting 75 minutes each, or a total of 8 weekly sessions lasting 45 minutes each. In person and virtual sessions are available.
Each session includes time for you to share, guided meditation, and gentle yoga and stretching. They may also include walks and movement in nature, grounding exercises, Qigong, and breathwork.
Arts-based sessions can last from 90 minutes to 2 hours and focus on the medium of your choice. Students can choose from poetry writing, collage boards (vision, gratitude, or anchors), or dance (ecstatic, salsa, or bachata).
Nature-based journeys last approximately 2 hours. Students can choose from hiking at Carolina Beach State Park, Lake Waccamaw, or Abby Nature Preserve; kayaking on the Cape Fear River, Intracoastal Waterway, or Lake Waccamaw; and biking on the Gary Shell Cross-City Trail or Greenfield Lake Loop.

As a mindfulness teacher, I work with you to teach you to learn and deepen your practice of mindfulness so that you can live a life that is healthy, grounded, and joyful. In addition to mindfulness practices, I use a combination of meditation techniques, embodiment practices, Qigong, and yoga to support your journey to cultivating a more peaceful existence.
Mindful embodiment coaching is not body-assisted therapy; it is learning to sit gently and compassionately with oneself to bring change and liberation. Power to the Peaceful highly encourages you to have a strong support system as you do this work (e.g., trusted friends and loved ones, a licensed therapist, self-care practices, etc.). We recognize that not all people have access to this, and we are here to help. Check out our Collaborators and resources for ways to build your support system.

I came into mindfulness practice when I picked up Pema Chodron’s book, “Comfortable with Uncertainty,” in 2005. The basics of meditation and the depth of roots in Buddhism aligned with my soul. I began my practice then, and I have re-read that book every year following. In addition to earning my mindfulness teacher certification, I have also been on a yoga teacher certification path, and I currently practice Qigong under the guidance of a monk on a daily basis.
Mindfulness practice has saved my life. It has helped me through the deep pain of loss when my beloved younger cousin was killed; through a devastating divorce; and through my gender and sexuality journeys. I have learned how to hold both grief and joy and the same time; how to compassionately accept my past and not set expectations for the future; how to be gentle with myself; and how to live a healthy, grounded, and joyful life.
Sure, I still have tough days, and experience immense sadness, grief, pain, disappointment, and anger. But mindfulness has taught me how to meet each moment and feeling that arises with tenderness and curiosity rather than judgement. It is a daily, sometimes minute-by-minute, practice that I continue to honor each day.
I decided to teach mindfulness on a community level after so many of my friends, co-workers, and acquaintances expressed to me how much my way of being with myself and being with them was joyful, calming, and therapeutic.
While I don’t offer therapy, I do offer support, guidance, and compassion through mindfulness and other related forms, such as yoga, embodiment practices, and Qigong. My hope for you is that we can work together to co-create happy, healthy, and joyful ways of being.
